Philosophy affords students a theoretical and practical grasp of the ethical questions that are at the forefront of concern in today's pluralistic society. Delving into questions concerning the very nature of good and evil, the philosophy student probes the basis of ethical judgment and subjects ethical criteria to critical evaluation.

Why Major in Philosophy? 

Philosophy is an indispensable part of any liberal arts curriculum because it enhances a student's ability to perceive the relationships among the various fields of study.

Philosophy provides students with the skills to think clearly, set goals and achieve them, and see problems objectively. For these reasons, students who major in philosophy see higher mid-career annual salaries than any other major in the humanities. Of all college majors, Philosophy and Mathematics see the greatest percentage increase from starting to mid-career salary at 103.5%.

Philosophy lays the groundwork for a rewarding life. 

Philosophy requires one to reflect on one's own core beliefs and values. Studies have shown that self-reflection is beneficial to one's personal well being and also makes one a better leader.
