Environmental Studies Minor

The minor in Environmental Studies at Loyola University New Orleans requires 21 hours of course work. Students are required to complete six (6) different courses equaling 18 semester hours from the following three course areas: Natural Sciences & Mathematics, Social Science, and Humanities. Two courses must be taken in each area.

The three course areas and the currently approved courses are listed in Loyola's Bulletin under Environmental Studies Minor. We will update the course list on this page as new courses are approved, but students should feel free to contact the Program Chair/Administrative Assistant for the latest list of eligible courses.

In addition, a three (3) hour Environmental Studies Senior Experience (Capstone Course) consisting either of an internship (ENVA A497), a research project (ENVA A498) or an independent study (ENVA A499) is also required. This culmination of the minor allows students to participate in a large spectrum of learning experiences that contribute to their environmental education and prepare them to potentially choose to pursue further work in environmental fields.
